Chart – Your V-R (virtual reputation) Is Created by…
When I speak on social media marketing I use the term “virtual-reputation” or “V-R” to explain the net effect of an individual’s activity online. The V-R org charts below are an attempt to show the online landscape from the perspective of creating a virtual-reputation.

Twitter – Andy Sernovitz Interviews Captain Tribune
My friend Andy Sernovitz interviewed the folks behind Twitter’s CaptainTribune last week. Here is a quote from Sernovitz’s blog post and the YouTube video. This video is well worth watching – not matter what your social media goals are or what market sector that you are in.
“The Chicago Tribune is doing a fantastic job of integrating social media and traditional journalism.
Most newspapers web sites are run by the marketing or new media department, but the Trib has done a great job of making it a core part of the editorial process.
Learn how Daniel Honigman and Bill Adee make it happen in this video interview, including how they use Twitter, MySpace, and other social media and how social media is key to connecting to influencers and the local (Chicago Tribune) community.”

If social media is so easy – why does anyone need a social media success coach?
Why would anyone need a social media success coach?
The short answer is that you don’t need a coach to effectively use social media to benefit your career or business — but you probably could use a little help making productive decisions, especially if you don’t have 10-15 hours per work to focus on this vast and growing world of social media. This evolving social media world is vast – both in terms of user-participants and available social media vehicles.
The rewards that can come from creating a social media strategy and following a social media action plan have been proven to be outstanding — but the downside is that it is easy to fall into the social media blackhole — where random social media efforts often fall.
This blog is one social media obsessed man’s attempt to share his social media success tips in a semi-organized manner. Obviously a blog won’t completely replace the one-to-one kind of coaching that my paying clients receive — but my intention is to help steer you down productive paths with this blog and my SocialMedialogy Conversations(tm) radio show where I interview people that have been successful using social media in growing their personal fame or getting more visibility for their businesses.
Today I interviewed a LinkedIn user that has built over 13,000 business connections in his LinkedIn network. Last week I interviewed the CEO of a company that has significantly grown their business using podcasts that feature intreviews with movers and shakers in their industry. The week before that I interviewed a woman that generated over 30,000 online viewings of a business PowerPoint presentation that she posted to a free site on July 3, 2008.
